I see you have an app in the iTunes store. Any chance of an Android app? I love the puzzles here and it would be great to have them on the go.
Andrew Stuart writes (10-Sep-2012):
I very much want to make an Android version, but struggling to find a decent developer at the moment. I'll certainly post an update on the site when I make progress. Glad you like the puzzles!

Not populating imported data? I have been usaing it everyday by importing data from my newspaper. It shows no message but transfer no data.
Andrew Stuart writes (29-Aug-2012):
I put a minor fix up yesterday just for Internet Explorer users, shouldn't have needed a new version number, but as several people have warned me of the same issue, I've released it again now saying version 1.89. Hit F5 to refresh until you see 1.89. Should work fine after that. Working fine my end.

I use your solver a lot and it is very helpful. The only thing I really miss from the older version is the beginning set numbers was in a different color and I could tell what I had added to the starting digits. I was easier to go back to the starting grid than now if everything goes awry. And I liked to be able to save the game myself at different times which was good if I was confident in the answers up to that point. Still a great sudoku tool. Thank you for all the time and work you put into an excellent product.
Andrew Stuart writes (20-Aug-2012):
You can still save and reload anytime you want by using the save/re-load buttons. They haven't changed. Also the colors can be controlled by the "Enter clues or solutions" above the small board. Experiment with those and let me know they are working as expected. I had to make the broader changes I did because it was so easy to lose the puzzle if you accidentally moved away.

I saw this sudoku many years ago but a very nice one i think. This has al the basic tricks but all in 1 and many time. So the beginning its very difficult. Hope you like it.

I love the concept of assisting us to learn as opposed to just solving a puzzle with no explanations. I have a suggestion for an update to your solver. A lot of times, I get "stuck" and use your site to give me guidance as to what the next move would be. Most of the time, I would like to see what technique I should use next and not necessarily where it should be. It would be nice to be able to step through a puzzle and have you suggest that the next move should be Y-Wing or Pointing Pairs but not show me where. This could easily be accomplished by adding a Hide-Unhide button which would render the sudoku boards invisible and only leave the right hand column visible. Thanks.
BTW, I am anxiously awaiting an IPad version of the IOS solver
Andrew Stuart writes (20-Aug-2012):
That's a good idea and we've implemented that feature in the iPhone solver app.
Definitely hoping we can bring out the iPad version in the coming months.
Keep an eye on the site!

Great job, I'm amazed by everything: sequence of the strategies tackled and the explanation of them so accurate! Compliments.
Just one comment to improve the visibility of the "newly added solved cells": every time I pass over the step "Check for solved cells" the script adds the solved cells in "blue" and they get somehow "confused" with the solved cells of the previous passes. What about highlighting the "newly added solved cells" in (say) green just for the time the user holds over the step "Check for solved cells"?
Ciao marcotti

Hi, I have been a real admirer of the Sudoku page and over the years I have seen how everything is so innovative with youe software. I use the Sudoku solver extensively ince I like to solve the diabolical puzzles and sometimes I need a little help! Your "Book " has been my Bible along with all the on line strategy stuff. The iPad "5" daily puzzles are great!! What I have a problem with is when I try to utilize the advanced strategies I lose my way because I can't mark specific numbers to see the connection. An easier example of this is in employing the "colouring" technique where it would be nice if the particular number in a puzzle under scrutiny could be marked as a color or simply Y/B or y/n to indicate the two possible conditions/ cases. Again much Kudos goes out to you for all the help you give to what is for me a definite addiction,,,Thanks again John ReevesS5ZKM

Many thanks for the positive words!
The number highlighting, talking about the '5 daily puzzles' app? I'm expecting Apple to approve any day now an update to the app which will allow you to highlight numbers from clues or solutions and notes. There will be a tick box near the board.
I'm also thinking about how to mark specific candidates individually but I have be aware of over complicating the UI. But I'd love to see some kind of color bar where you could pick a color and lable a candidate. That would be neat.

I loaded the iPhone update when it recently came out. I noticed today that when I tried to run any of the boards saved under Favourites, I was immediately kicked out of the app.
Andrew Stuart writes (6-Aug-2012):
Yes we've had reports of that and we've found the problem. We've submitted and as soon as Apple approve the update (about 7 days I usual) you'll be able to upgrade. Stay out of favourites in the meantime

After updating the iPhone app the favourites will no longer open. The app just closes after selecting a favourite. Even after saving a new one the same thing happens. Please fix. The daily puzzles are a great addition.
Thanks
