I found an instance today -- first time I've noticed it -- that when I used the auto clear function, the deletions that I had made individually were lost. When I removed the auto clear function all worked properly.

Andrew Stuart writes:
I think you'll want 'Auto Clear' off if you manually edit the small board. It does refresh the whole board with the clues and solutions entered.

Bug?

start with escargot. put 3 in cell H5. Step through solver until solver uses pattern overlay for first time. It solves correctly to eliminate three 6s, but the yellow fields seem to show pattern for 9s

later it will solve for 8s and it works fine.

Why are all the possibles shown when I put in a puzzle to print out? I used to do this and the squares were empty where there no numbers and I could use my on system(I try to get to only 2 or 3 possibles before I write them in. Is there a way to clear the possibles before I print the puzzle? Thanks for this great web site.

Andrew Stuart writes:
Untick "Show Candidates"

I'll look at reverting to the old system for this one aspect but it gets complicated with the new features I've added especially the auto saving

What happened to Clear button on the grid? Am I missing it? It helps when entering a personal puzzle

Andrew Stuart writes:

Congratulations Andrew and Happy Birthday! I've just noticed it was your Solver's 7th birthday on 28th May 2012. I'd say it has well and truly come of age!

I was reading the Version History page and noticed your own comment for V1.10 "Just nice to know that after two weeks we're still finding better strategies". Ha ha ha!

Well Done!

Andrew Stuart writes:
Wow, has it been so long!
That reminder made me laugh too
Cheers Pieter :)

Load Sudoku:

When your solver gets to the hidden 149 triple in Box 4, it does something weird with the highlighting, bringing attention to the two 9's in the the far right column of the puzzle.

Andrew Stuart writes:
Well spotted, yes there was a bug with the green candidates being improperly highlighted. It occurred on those rare occasions when the one of the three cells in the triple didn't have a candidate to remove. Thoroughly tested on my set of hidden triple examples now, should be working properly. Appreciate the alert
